What's new?
Sign Language for Autism
Goodwill/Easter Seals Miami Valley has developed a Sign Language for Individuals with Autism program. This program utilizes sign language as a bridge to spoken language resulting in earlier language development, reduction in negative behaviors, increased social interaction, development of cognitive structures, and increased ability to interpret facial expressions. The visual representation of sign language taps into a child's natural visual learning style and enhances communication. This program is brought to the child's home, working directly with the child and family. Sign language for Autism can work in conjunction with ABA, Verbal behavior, and other in-home programs. For more information, contact Melissa Engle (937) 461-4800 ext. 393.
